This class will be our beginning experience to learn to use a Sumi-e brush and a variety of strokes. We will be concentrating on learning the style for bamboo limbs and leaves, and we may also include birds. The next two classes will be on learning to paint Cherry trees and Cherry blossoms, and then one will be painting a rose Sumi-e style.

For these classes, we have an art kit that you can come by to pick up at The Art Room, Wednesday through Friday 9:00-5:00. The kit will include:

• A medium-size Sumi-e brush

• A flat-ended brush

• some tracing paper

• Some newsprint paper

• A small container of Indian ink

• 2 pieces of nice rice paper.

• Some written information and samples ( I will try to make a PDF of this so those who cannot come by to get the kits will still have the information.

• Your watercolor set

• 2 Small dishes or bowls for water

• Paper towels

• Old newspaper for practice and to keep your area clean
