What is the art room?

The Art Room provides a safe, supportive studio environment for adults with mental health issues to explore artistic expression and the development of artistic skills. Our visitors will be supported in the discovery that the creative process has therapeutic value in reducing stress, in promoting self-discovery, and in providing a positive means for emotional expression. We hope to demonstrate that engaging in art is therapeutic.

The Art Room is located in Denton, Texas.

the 2nd annual positive cycology ride

Join us May 18, 2024 for our 2nd annual Positive Cycology Ride, celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month and National Bike Month!

We here at The Art Room are thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Positive Cycology Ride Fundraiser, May 18th! This year we’re offering three rides, an 8-mile, 27-mile and a 50-miler—starting at Stoke Coworking with a 7:30 am staggered start check-in. We’ll all wind up and reconvene for a post-ride celebration at East Side around 11:30 am!

Welcome Home 2023 Community Art Project For North Texas Giving Day

We are happy to announce this year’s Community Art Project in conjunction with our fundraising efforts for North Texas Giving Day, September 21, 2023.

For the past several years, we’ve donated collaborative community artworks to local nonprofits, involving our members and people from the Denton community, and beyond. This year we want to honor and celebrate the joy and support that our animal companions bring to our lives, so we’ll be donating a large-scale collaborative artwork called Welcome Home to the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center.

One Year Later At Our New Art Studio Home

Can you believe it’s been an entire year since we moved to our new art studio home? Time sure flies when you are having fun! This space has given us so much more opportunity to grow. We have been able to have more members participate in our classes daily. Throughout the year, our studio has been much more accessible to the public through various events including our very own art market and member exhibit in the spring! More importantly, we have been able to amplify our voice within the community as a place for creativity and healing.

It honestly has been a wonderful first year and we are looking forward to many more at 721 Locust Street thanks to our beloved Denton community!

Support The Art Room

We truly believe that art and creative expression can bring healing and recovery to people’s lives. It’s an honor to be able to operate a space in which both can be nurtured, but we can’t do it alone. Thanks to our sponsors, community partners, donors, and volunteers for helping us keep the dream alive.

The Art Room is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation under the name The ArtFullness Project, so you can make a tax deductible donation, or you can donate through organizations like Amazon Smile (see link below) and North Texas Giving Day. Find out more information about how you can help support The Art Room.
