We will be learning the techniques of the Plum Blossom.
“The plum blossom, known as the meihue in Chinese, is a symbol of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity, because plum blossoms often bloom most vibrantly even amidst the harsh winter snow. As the plum tree can usually grow for a long time, ancient trees can be found throughout China.”
For this class you will need :
A medium-size Sumi-e brush
A flat-ended brush
A container of water
100% rag paper like rice paper, watercolor paper, newsprint
Your watercolor set
2 small dishes or bowls for water
Paper towels
Old newspaper for practice and to keep your area clean
If you do not have these supplies from last week you may come to the art room Wed - Fri between 9:00-5:00 to pick up what you need. We will set out some more paper, and we will be trying some different rice paper this time too, but your sketch pads and watercolor paper will be fine.
