What is the art room?

The Art Room provides a safe, supportive studio environment for adults with mental health issues to explore artistic expression and the development of artistic skills. Our visitors will be supported in the discovery that the creative process has therapeutic value in reducing stress, in promoting self-discovery, and in providing a positive means for emotional expression. We hope to demonstrate that engaging in art is therapeutic.

The Art Room is located in Denton, Texas.

2025 Member Exhibition

The Art Room's annual Member Exhibition is a time when our Members get to showcase their work, and we celebrate their accomplishments, creativity, and resolve.

Don't miss our March 7th opening reception, featuring community, great art, small bites, and live music. This year our opening night also coincides with downtown's First Friday Denton!

Join our Third Annual Positive Cycology Ride

Join us May 17, 2025, in Denton for our Positive Cycology Ride! This annual fundraising bike ride event supports The Art Room. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and National Bike Month, and we offer three bike rides to support the positive psychological benefits of both bike riding and art. (Not riding? You can donate to support us!)

One Year Later At Our New Art Studio Home

Can you believe it’s been an entire year since we moved to our new art studio home? Time sure flies when you are having fun! This space has given us so much more opportunity to grow. We have been able to have more members participate in our classes daily. Throughout the year, our studio has been much more accessible to the public through various events including our very own art market and member exhibit in the spring! More importantly, we have been able to amplify our voice within the community as a place for creativity and healing.

It honestly has been a wonderful first year and we are looking forward to many more at 721 Locust Street thanks to our beloved Denton community!
